Last night at our Bible Study group, studying “Foundations.” We are just in our first week, and I can say WOW.
My church has “Foundations” as the focus for the year to understand the foundation and how it affects us and our walk.
This was my revelation last night about Adam and Eve in the Garden. This is our foundation. Adam received the word from God about the tree of life and not to eat from it. He told Eve. Then, Eve was deceived by the serpent.
Adam was told directly by God. This is an example of how we are to learn. We need to read, study, and know God’s word for ourselves. 2 Timothy 2:15 states that. We are to see for ourselves, so we know the truth and rightly divide it.
God talks to each of us through His word. We all are to gather together; this helps us understand the Bible. But your revelation can and is to come from God. Then we will know that we know. We have something to stand on.
Time and time again, when I go to church or listen to sermons online. They confirm what I have been studying. Sometimes, I hear something from a Pastor or Bible teacher; it doesn’t sit well in my soul. So, what do I do?
I don’t go and tell that person they are wrong and challenge them about what I think I know. In turn, I pray and look at His word, the Bible, to see what it says. If I still have a question, I am prepared for a conversation with them/others.
In the 90s, I would go to church on Easter Sunday with my parents. They did a sunrise service and then a 10 am service. Sometimes, something stated at the sunrise service didn’t sound right. I would return to my parent’s home and look at the scriptures. Sometimes, the pastor was right, but sometimes, it opened a time of conversation with him. For clarification, I could go back to God to find out the truth for myself. It was not just accepting what I was told.
Back to Adam and Eve, the serpent targeted Eve because she didn’t have revelation knowledge. She had communication knowledge.
Which one do you have? What is your source of truth? What do others say, or what does the Bible, the living word of God say?
