Raise God higher, or you

Today, as I was reading my devotions, the topic was man’s praise or God’s. Today, we work for promotions, recognition, or those way-to-go moments. When people see you.  In the Bible, Matthew 6:2 says “Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”

I remember a lady came up and praised me for what I was doing through Titus II, Inc. After she was done, I told her it wasn’t me. It was God. Then she said no, you had done this. Seeing it would be an argument, I just said thank you. When I turned to leave, I told God it wasn’t me. It was all Him. Because it was, for I can do nothing on my own. I would rather store all my rewards in heaven than seek after man’s praises.

Are we recognized for our works on earth? Yes, we can be. I am not saying that. I want us to ponder our motives. A lady I worked with would say she has to do a “Motive check.” Something we all need to do. Where is your heart? To receive the praises of man or the Great I AM?

It all comes down to our walk with God. Do we want to walk beside God or get ahead of Him because man has said we are something?

Ponder your motives as I am today for why you do what you do.
