Make time and take time

In a world where we are so connected by technology and busy doing what we think is essential. Is there something we need to remember?

Hebrews 10:23-25 reminds us this is what we are to do as we see the day approaching. We don’t do this. We have phones, Facetime, Facebook, emails, Zoom and more.

What has happened to our face-to-face time with family and friends? Are we that busy? I remember, as a child, going to the neighbors. Parents would play cards, and kids would play. Or spend time with family over the holidays? Or even a just-because moment.

We don’t take the time to connect and then wonder what has happened to the older generation when they are gone. Are we too busy to take time to see what it was like then or to gather family memories or recipes? When that generation is gone, we cannot get it back.

Also, James 1:27 says to visit the fatherless and widows.

Do we? Widows are not gender or age-specific. In a world where we are all swamped, I get it. But we all have time to do what we want. Right? So why not take time to reach out to family or friends you know are alone? Working to make a living.

It is hard. I have been single since 1995. I raised four children, and my job was caring for a HUD property for 13 years. I lived and saw what a widow (single adult) does. I gave food to a neighbor who needed it. I would visit with a gentleman named Ben, who had no one who came to visit him.

We are losing this generation. Their memories, moments of how it was, will be gone sooner than we want. Take time, MAKE TIME. And when you do, you will know you have made two people smile. The person you visit and GOD.
