This morning I am thinking back to the 60’s and 70’s. When I asked for something, if I didn’t use one of these words, I would be asked, “What are the magic words?” I know many of you will remember this, but for those who do not, the words are “Please, thank you, and I’m sorry.” Google says there are five magic words: “Please, Sorry/I’m Sorry, Thank You, Pardon Me, and Excuse Me.”
Matthew 7:12: “Treat others as you want them to treat you. CEV.
In a world so entangled in a person’s rights and how they are treated, the question is how we treat others ourselves. Are the ones who say they are being mistreated? How are you treating others?
Are there those who hold the door open for you? Do you say thank you?
Do you say excuse me if you walk between two people talking? Or when shopping, you walk between the person and what they are looking at?
When you ask for something, do you say please? And then thank you?
We do have a problem with being polite. The question to ponder is, are you?
Do you look out for others or help older adults crossing an icy parking lot? It is a matter of having your eyes open and as the Bible says, treat others the way you want to be treated.
