Gluttony

Gluttony is a word associated with food. Let’s expand on this thought. Gluttony means, according to Merriam-Webster, excess in eating and drinking, and second is greed or excessive INDULGENCE.

This is interesting. I heard a podcast on this subject, which I have pondered at different times.

Proverbs 23:21 says, “For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty”—an interesting scripture.

I have discovered, at times, that I was a glutton over social media. Gluttony is anything that is a time stealer. There is always something better you can do. You waste your time, which, in turn, brings you into poverty. Another thought I just had was how many of us scroll social media at work (when we should be working). Is this stealing? You have stolen time from your boss, which could have been productive. How about those dings and whistles to let you know someone posted, and you pull out your phone in front of someone you are conversing with?

To be a glutton is anything that takes your attention away from someone or something. Or how about scrolling Facebook at church using the excuse that you are looking at your bible? It is something you are addicted to. Ponder that thought for a minute.
