First things first

Date: January 24, 2024

Greetings,

Have you ever tried to do a recipe where you read it and then wanted to do it your way? Or get it all done and realize you still need to turn on the oven?

We all have, but I want to tell you with God, you must do the first things first. You cannot enter heaven because I have done good things, helped people who were homeless, fed the poor, served on weekend retreats, volunteered for nonprofits that reached the lost, and sent money to ministries that reached the world.

Where all these things are good and show your heart, you won’t enter heaven IF you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your savior. We are not to boast of our works but of Christ. Eph 2:8-9 states we are saved by faith. We should only boast about Jesus and what He has done in our lives (first and foremost, he has saved us from our sins) rather than everything we do.

First things first: Truly accept Christ as your savior. This is not just words repeated, but are you sorry for your sins and not that you have gotten caught again? You have put yourself in a spot you know you cannot escape without God’s help. We have all been there. Making all kinds of promises to God if He would just…

Do you want forgiveness for your lifestyle and how you have lived? Are you willing to turn from it, take one step toward what God has, and accept what Jesus has for you? The prodigal son’s story is found in Luke 15. When the son returns, this parable says the father was watching for him. And runs to him when he is far off.

God is watching for you, so do the first things first. Repeat and mean it: “God forgive me for my sins, and I accept Jesus as my Savior.”
