So, do you prefer milk or meat when you eat? How about spiritually?
Babies, when they are born, only get milk. Not anything too solid for their bodies can not digest those things yet. A lot of growing needs to happen, and the body needs to develop as well as the mind. Mind, what does that have to do with eating?
As an infant and a toddler, your parents watch over your diet; If not, you may eat Legos or paper, or your drink could be bleach or cleaner.
Our spiritual walk is the same. We need to learn (milk). I remember my mom reading bible stories at the supper table when Dad was a trucker.
As you mature now, you need someone to mentor you in your spiritual walk. We need those who understand to explain, direct, and help answer our many questions (meat). Then, you are fed (understand) more at church or in bible studies.
When does it become meat? That is up to you. Many people go to church on Sunday, and that is it—not seeking or reading on their own. Can I give you a visual? How about an adult sucking on a bottle, which is ok if they came into relationship with Christ at an older age. Not for someone who has sat in church for years and has chosen not to grow.
If you want the meat of God’s word, Proverbs 25:2 states, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter but the honor of Kings to search it out.” Let us look for the meat of God’s word. Go deeper with Him.
IN HIM
